Choquequirao is twice the size of Machu Picchu but receives a fraction of its visitors. This four-day trek descends into the Apurímac Canyon and climbs to the sprawling terraces and plazas of an Inca city still being excavated.
The journey is demanding — steep drops and ascents test your legs — but the reward is solitude, drama, and a sense of true exploration. Mules carry camping gear while you focus on the trail and the story your guide tells of this lost citadel.

Day 1
Drive from Cusco to Capuliyoc (2,900 m) and descend to Chiquisca camp (1,836 m). Approx. 4 hours downhill.

Day 2
Early descent to the Apurímac River, then steep ascent to Marampata and Choquequirao (3,050 m). Explore the main plaza at sunset. 6–7 hours.

Day 3
Full morning exploring Choquequirao's upper terraces, llama motifs, and ceremonial sectors. Afternoon descent to Chiquisca camp.

Steep ascent from the canyon to Capuliyoc, then drive back to Cusco. Arrive evening.
